SEMINAR: TRANSMISSIONS

Transmissions should be understood in the broadest possible sense, as an action to move or shift something from one location to another. The aim of the seminar is to break down boundaries between academic and artistic approaches to Sound Art. The event begins Tuesday evening, with a series of sound performances and continues Wednesday with presentations and artist talks. Participating artists and theorists include Hanna Hartman (SE), Carl Michael von Hausswolff (SE), Kabir Carter (U.S.), Leslie Korrick (U.S.), Mike Butera (U.S.) and Jesper N. Jørgensen (DK). The seminar is organized by LARM (University of Copenhagen, Department of Arts and Cultural Studies) in collaboration with SNYK and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts’ Nordic Sound Art programme.
CATALOGUE LAUNCH AND ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION

To mark the release of the catalogue Søren Martinsen has produced for his exhibition we have arranged a roundtable discussion between the artist and the two contributors to the catalogue, art historian and PhD fellow Jacob Lillemose and artist and critic Andreas Schlaegel. The conversation will be based on the exhibition and will affect issues such as neo-religiosity and spirituality in modern society. The event will be in English.
CONCERTS

In connection with Rose Eken’s exhibition we invite you to a jazz concert with Mads Hyhne & Jacob Dinesen and a solo concert with singer and songwriter Gry Bagoien who cooperates with the German ‘industrial electronic’ musician FM Einheit.
ARTIST TALK: MARY COBLE

Mary Coble (U.S., b. 1978) is one of the most prominent names on the young American performance scene. In her works she examines the way we perceive and orchestrate ideas about gender, race, sexuality and identity, which is reflected in the work Blood Script. A photographic documentation of a performance in which she had 75 invectives for homosexuals, blacks and women among others tattooed on her body with a needle, until all her skin was covered with the bloody contours of the words. Coble joins the Funen Art Academy as a professor in October. The event will be in English.
