Open Call
A record number of applicants

With more than 600 Open Call applications for the 2023 spring and summer program at O—Overgaden, there is an overwhelming interest this year from artists wanting to exhibit at O—Overgaden.

The field of applicants breaks every previous records in the history of O—Overgaden’s Open Call, which is testament to the great trust in O—Overgaden’s work shown by all of the applying artists. We feel thrilled and very humbled!

Among this year’s applicants were a high number of international artists, whose practices we are excited to gain more insight into. We have also seen great diversity in general, which surely creates the foundation for a great 2023 exhibition program.

This extraordinary support shown towards the program at O—Overgaden follows a Covid-19 year that put the historic Open Call on hold, as well as a change of the application requirements from the new management of O—Overgaden, which asks applicants to apply on the basis of their artistic practices instead of creating a new idea for an exhibition tailored directly for O—Overgaden.

Ahead of us lies a lot of reading, screenings, and discussions until the O—Overgaden team will be able to announce the artists of next year’s exhibition program in late April. Hence, the extraordinary number of applications means that the response time will be pushed back a few weeks from the initial plan.

We send heartfelt thanks to all of the artists who showed interest in exhibiting with us.
