Join us for Zahna Siham Benamor performance The Backs of Our Eyes Come Knocking. The Green Seeds We Have Planted in Our Dreams (2024), as she lets poetic calls and Algerian raï rhythms wander from the current exhibition The False Rose of Jericho and spread throughout O—Overgaden’s ground floor.

The performance is a central piece in the current exhibition The False Jericho Rose by Zahna Siham Benamor and Apolonia Sokol and takes place on selected days during the exhibition period.

Everyone is welcome. Admission is free for both the performance and O—Overgaden’s current exhibitions.

“‘The doctor gave me fentanyl and said something about excitement.’ She recited the words clearly and with abrupt, emphatic intonation, almost like a string of performative speech acts.” — Pernille Albrethsen, Kunstkritikk

Benamor’s poetic performance has been created especially for the exhibition at O—Overgaden and enters into dialogue with the exhibition’s theatrical universe, where raw and punkish soundscapes of raï rhythms, strings, and ambient compositions flow from Benamor’s installed sound work, while Sokol’s dark DIY prints and a new series of large portraits in oil, draws circles around Benamor’s life story and the pair’s sisterhood, based on recurring themes including feminism, freedom, and migration.
