TALK | Birke Gorm ~ Hannah Heilmann
nyhedsbrev_birke_-hannah.png

Please join us on Sunday 3 August at 12pm for a conversation between artists Birke Gorm and Hannah Heilmann, marking the conclusion of Gorm’s current solo exhibition at O—Overgaden: “let me stop you right there.”

The talk will centre on works and themes from Gorm’s exhibition, and on the intersecting explorations of the two artists into ephemeral materials, parenthood, and regulation within everyday society.

The conversation will be held in Danish.

The bar will be open, offering beer and alcohol-free beverages.

Entry to the talk is free, as is admission to all of O—Overgaden’s exhibitions.

BIRKE GORM
(b. 1986, DE/DK/AT) is a Danish-German artist based in Vienna. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna in 2018 and has also studied at HFBK University of Fine Arts in Hamburg. Gorm has exhibited at venues including Kunstmuseet i Tønder (2024); Museum der Moderne, Salzburg (2024); Forum Stadtpark, Graz (2023); MAK – Museum of Applied Arts, Vienna (2023); Croy Nielsen, Vienna (2023); Politikens Forhal, Copenhagen (2021); and SMK – National Gallery of Denmark, Copenhagen (2020).

HANNAH HEILMANN
(b. 1978, DK) is a visual artist based in Denmark. She holds an MA in Art History from the University of Copenhagen and teaches at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Heilmann works in a field between classical and performative disciplines, where both the concept of art and the role of the artist are up for negotiation. She has exhibited at numerous Danish and international venues. Her practice places the body in relation to the objects around it; behaviour is stretched between a sense of value and the desire to possess; the exhibition space may take the form of a showroom, and consumption is linked to both desire and shame.
