Please join us on Sunday, March 8, as we celebrate International Women’s Day with Sanabel Abdel Rahman, literary critic and PhD in Arabic Literature, and artist Samara Sallam.

Many Palestinian women storytellers create astounding, magical worlds in which their female protagonists go on adventures and save their kin—or, in some cases, all of humanity.

This talk by Sanabel Abdel Rahman will explore the freedom of mobility and fascinating breadth of imagination that Palestinian women storytellers and their heroines exercise within the medium of folktales. It will shed light on their public presence and mobility, visibility, and forms of fugitivity, and the ways folktales act as “repertoires of the future” and agents in the collective imagination.

The event will be introduced by artist Samara Sallam, and extend to some of the questions touched upon in her solo exhibition at O—Overgaden, taking place over the summer of 2025.

Please note that the event will be held in English.

The bar will be open. Everyone is welcome and, as always, admission to O—Overgaden’s exhibitions is free. We look forward to seeing you!
