Selina Rom Andersen: Solo Exhibition
A slapstick narrator and artistic collectivist, Selina Rom Andersen (b. 1996, Denmark) works across a range of forms. These include graphic novels about society’s anarchic outcasts, Modløse 1, publishing projects such as the magazine Crazy in Bed, and filmmaking, including the collectively produced “Julekalender” Karen from the Mill, a TV series in 24 episodes leading up to Christmas.
For her first large-scale solo exhibition, Andersen zooms in on the absurdist stagings and performances of power, presented as a mockumentary-style film that plays out two opposing extremes. Using amateur actors as stand-ins, she dramatizes, on the one hand, the assumed absolute power of the Danish King Frederik X and, on the other hand, the petty bureaucratic power of the Copenhagen Metro ticket inspector. In a street-theater-like setting, costumed cameo performers act out the equally senseless authority of these two figures.
Selina Rom Andersen (b. 1996, DK) is a visual artist who lives and works in Copenhagen. Andersen graduated from Jutland Art Academy (2021) and Funen Art Academy (2018), and has previously exhibited at venues including Æsken, Aarhus (2025): Kunsthal Aarhus (2024); Museum of Contemporary Art Roskilde (2023): Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen (2022); and Alt_Cph, Copenhagen (2018).
